Hellraiser : Butchering Pinhead

Hasn't Hollywood figured out we don't want remakes anymore? STOP IT!

One of the problems with modern remakes is too much CGI, especially a movie or franchise where the practical effects are so amazing they still hold up today.

Another problem with modern remakes is the race or gender swapping of main characters. Most of us don't care what the race or gender of the main characters are when they are brand new; just make them a great character either hero or villain. Changing the race or gender of a popular or well established character is just pandering.

So what is happening to the Hellraiser reboot : gender swap of Pinhead, kinda'. It might have too much CGI too, but I don't know.

Full disclosure, I don't care about the Hellraiser franchise. The first one came out when I was 18 and I found it boring; in fact, I don't know if I finished watching it or even just fell asleep during it. However, I've been meaning to try to revisit it.

So how established is Pinhead as a male, or how deep is the franchise before this swap?

  • 10 movies
  • 4 Novels
  • 103 Comic books (if I counted correctly)

What makes this gender swap more infuriating is that in the comicbooks there is a female Pinhead, Kirsty Cotton. In the storyline, after years of fighting cenobites, she agrees to take Pinhead's place as the Hell Priest and takes on his disfigurement. Kirsty Cotton even appears in the movies fighting cenobites. Maybe that's who they'll make this reboot Pinhead to be? But this is billed as a reboot, and the storyline reads like it is the same first movie.

Brace for fans picking this simplification apart.

So this Pinhead reboot is played by Jamie Clayton, a trans-woman, a faux-woman. So is this really a gender swap? Or is this appropriate casting having a mutilated man playing a cenobite?

All I know is this sounds woke, woke as Hell.

MoveOn.org tries to bailout Greece

This is just amusing and silly. MoveOn.org on their front page has a link to make donations to bail out Greece.

Does a non-profit organization think they have the support size to bail out a country? Are they so in the bag for socialism that they believe having a sound economic policy is a threat to their ideals?

This is just plain silliness.

ABC Family Channel, a new kind of family. Yeah, gay.

I had the ABC Family Channel on for background noise all day because there was a Harry Potter marathon. It is a great set of movies to have on in the background and catch some of your favorite scenes here and there.

Once the marathon was over a show came on called "the Vineyard." And what did I see when I happened to take notice; a lesbian kiss.

This is a family channel?

Sure this is a night time show, but still, homosexuality on the family channel? That just isn't right!

Miley Cyrus is a Genius

There's a sucker born every minute.
...and that would be the public.

Miley Cyrus is a genius. Yes. Really.

It seems to be a common story that child stars have a rough adulthood. They start a career so young and so often it just does not carry on into a life-time career.

Miley has been "acting up" since she has grown up. Like I said, "has been" as in we already know she is acting up. So why is her performance at the MTV awards a shock? We know she is going to do this!

The real story is how on earth can so many people and media outlets express shock and outrage at what she did? Are they that stupid? Are they just waiting to be outraged?

Miley has people talking about her.
There's no such thing as bad press.
Be outraged at MTV for booking her. I knew she was going to do something outrageous; you knew she was going to do something outrageous; MTV knew she was going to do something outrageous. And still she was booked and people watched.

Face it. If you watched you did it to watch a hot young thing bare her skin and shake it. She's old enough you can legally justify you are not a pedophile.

You're a sicko.

The public is sick.

Miley is not going to hell for baring her skin. She was born naked.

You're going to hell for watching.

Department of Energy ruins the Jack-O-Lantern

It is National Energy Action Month and the Department of Energy would like you to increase awareness by "geeking out" your Jack-O-Lantern. At a time when bullying is such an issue and we are having absurd anti-bullying laws we have a department of the federal government urging kids to be geeky at a time they should be scary for the season? That's just begging kids to make themselves targets to get picked on!

You can download a PDF of some recommended patterns for your pumpkin(s). The following is a thumbnail of the patterns:

Jeez! What kid doesn't want to carve a light bulb in their pumpkin instead of a scary face?

This probably is not a big deal except for the fact that parents might get involved in this idea. Why would a parent have light bulbs and windmills on their kids pumpkins instead of scary faces? Because the DOE will post images of your Lame-O-Lanterns that you send in. Some people just can't resist that bit of Internet fame by having their handiwork displayed on a government site.

Thanks to the DOE, some kids are going to have a lame Halloween.

DOE ends their blog entry with Happy “Energy-ween!”

I am a bit surprised they didn't go with Happy Hallo-green!

The Awful 47%

#ObamaPhone was trending on twitter today. Was this a new meme to illustrate Obama's incompetence?

No.

This is about a woman bragging about government swag. She's going to vote for Obama because he gave her a phone.

Sound familiar? Just in case you forgot, how about the "Obama is going to pay my mortgage and gas" clip?

Yes. It is that awful 47% Romney can not convince to vote for him. Obama wages class war and urges attacks on the income of the rich. Romney promotes indifference. Attack vs. Indifference. Who's the real awful one?

The Obama phone gal is really making me resent the 47%. Why should I pay taxes? I pay for my phone and everything else. Obviously I pay for her phone and everything else too.

The 53% are not doing enough, though. Especially the rich. Obama supporters will shoot their foot off just to tax the rich. They are so under the spell of class war fare that regardless of their situation they believe they are being screwed by the rich, not the government that takes their money, unless they are of the set that get the Obama phone.

Unions can no longer take its members dues and support political candidates that a member does not want them to support. Unfortunately the government can take your money and buy stuff for other people. As long as a candidate promises free stuff to one set of people while making another pay for it they will get votes. Some of those getting fleeced will actually go for it because they think it is compassionate.

However, government swag is not a gift; it is a set of chains; it is a burden of dependency. This clip of Alan Keyes that I saw at iOwnTheWorld explains it best:

America is sooo mean to Gays

America is so mean and unenlightened. Imagine that there are people that are opposed to gay marriage. Marriage is between a man and a woman? How primitive!

Why not just put gays in jail?

Well, gays are being put in jail. David Cecil is in jail for putting on a gay play.

Oh, but that's in Uganda where David wanted to put on the gay play. Not America. I certainly hope I didn't mislead you.

Uganda's Media Council had warned backers not to do the play till it was approved.

On a side note, Uganda's government does not think its punishment on homosexuality is tough enough. They are looking to make stricter anti-homosexuality laws.

Food for Thought

The government needs to ban large drinks because we are too stupid to know that a large drink has calories.

The government has a "Let's move" campaign because we are too stupid to know exercise is good for us.

The government raises taxes on cigarettes so that we buy less because we are too stupid to know they are bad for us.

The government doesn't want to let us have school choice so that they can keep us in public schools and keep us stupid.

Everyone Loves an Underdog

Romney raised more money than Obama in May. This news seems to be catching on like wildfire. I first saw this news on a post at Obama's campaign site. The post takes this news and spins it into a tale of Obama fighting the rich and powerful because Romney's contributions came in large amounts and Obama's contributions came in small amounts.

In fact, there is a new "panic" video put up by the Obama campaign:
The fact that Obama was out-raised will make the campaign try to paint him as an underdog, even though this is the first time he was out-raised in contributions by Romney. In fact, according to a new post today on Obama's campaign site, it is the first time he has been out-raised since 2007.

None the less, if Obama does not raise as much money or more than Romney every month, he will be painted as an underdog. Romney will always be portrayed as the rich man buying his way to the White House. Walker's recent victory in the recall election has been attributed to the fact he got more contributions. Who raises more money really isn't news unless you want to use it to gain underdog status and promote a dramatic rising from the ashes victory, and the next step will be for the Obama campaign to insert Walker's victory into Obama's quest for a second term.

So what were the numbers for May?

May Fundraising

Obama $60 Million
Romney $76.8 Million
But what are their current war chest totals?

Current Totals

Obama $277 Million
Romney $175 Million
Romney has five months to close a $102 million gap. If he can raise $16.8 million more than Obama every month he will still end up $18 million short. Romney having one good month on Obama does not make Obama an underdog. Romney can keep doing this good and Romney will still be the underdog financially. But the frenzy across the news will not paint it that way.

Romney will continue to get tagged as getting special interest and big dollar donations. Obama will get tagged as getting his money from the people. Obama doesn't care about the rich; he cares about the poor and middle class. You can see his sincerity with the Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour commercials and the George Clooney dinner. Obama in no way can be connected with the rich like Romney can.

Remember. The meme is Walker won because of money. Now, every time Romney raises more than Obama, Romney is buying the election, even if in the end Romney ends up short.

Obama Officially Directs DOJ Not To Enforce Law

The LGBT slide show at Obama's campaign site states that he is directing the Department of Justice not to enforce the law.

Isn't it the job of the Supreme Court to declare a law unconstitutional? <sarcasm>No, wait! That's Obama's job. He should know. He's a Constitutional Lawyer!</sarcasm>

Angela's note to the President : a Commentary

The following is a letter from an Obama supporter on the Obama site. My commentary is made in blue when necessary.

Angela's note to the President

By Lauren Peterson on

"I was part of the energy that sparked a movement to get you elected. A "movement," not a campaign? A "movement" to change America? I believed in everything you said in Chicago that night about change and hope. I thought it was "hope and change." I know you had a mess to clean up in Washington upon your arrival Blame Bush., and as an uninsured American I was waiting patiently for Obamacare. She had no intention of correcting her insurance problem herself? She intended on waiting for government? I graduated from grad school during the recession and still can’t find full-time employment No kidding. Neither can a lot of people., but cried during the State of the Union when you proclaimed the worth of teachers and educators. What? "I like teachers." Boo hoo! Really?

"Now, as a lesbian woman who 'married' her partner of nine years last July (technically a civil union), I am just so overwhelmed. Overwhelmed, about being married? Are you looking for government to make marriage/civil unions less "overwhelming?" I believe in you He's a man, not a god. and always knew that you are a fair and just man who cares about all Americans—not just those at the top Have you not been listening? He hates the top! He wants to destory the top. He is promoting class warfare., but all of us who are trying desperately to have some peace and live a decent and modest life." You will not get peace if he has his way. The government telling you that you must buy a product is not living in peace. The only peace you will have is when the energy market is destroyed and you will have nothing to power your iPod.

Cake Declared Illegal

The government is way out of hand in Boston. Yes, we want our kids to have healthy lunches, but the Departments of Public Health and Education want to ban whole milk and white bread. That really hits on a fine line of defining healthy and nutrition. Isn't pizza made on a type of white bread? Will pizza get banned?

So officials are expanding their control over food served from students at lunch time to being a 24/7 enforcement in the school. This means bake sales are illegal. The PTA can no longer sell or auction cakes at the school because they are not healthy.

Could it get any crazier?

Yes!

State officials want to ban banquets and door-to-door candy sales that act as fund raising for the school. Really? You can't sell candy off of school grounds? Do they think people are selling candy bars as if they were a whole meal?

So here is what the state officials want:
  • No whole milk
  • No white bread
  • No cake
  • No candy, on or off school grounds
  • No banquets, on or off school grounds
In other words ...

NO FREEDOM IN BOSTON

A Little Common Sense

Lee Doren as usual gives an awesome commentary on the "life of Julia," capitalism, socialism, and the OccupyWallStreet mentality.
