YeeHa! Texas!

I am now in Texas!

My move is complete, but the unpacking is not.

What a beautiful place.

So, yeah. It is hot, but it is better than too cold.

Love the people.

The wild-life is awesome. Well, by wild-life I mean regularly encounterable critters. In this case, lizards, birds, and bats.

Back in Atlanta all I saw was a lone bat circling my local area. In Texas where I work, during window cleaning, the bats were disturbed enough I could see a dozen in the parking garage; many circled our building during the day during the cleaning. Near where I live is a location to buy tickets for a comfortable seating to watch thousands of bats emerge at dusk from a hollow. The nearby river-walk also is quite a spetacle.

Upon my return from the market on my first shopping day with an initial load of staples I set my bags down inside my door-wall. I went and gathered the rest of my pack and set those down too. I picked up the first bag I intended to unload and saw something scurry from its place to an adjacent bag.

All I thought was "Crap! A roach."

I shifted and lifted bag after bag while I shooed the critter into the open. Once I was successful I found it was not a roach but a small, (baby?), gecko. This gorgeous lizard that back in Michigan that would fetch from $20 to $100 just waltzed into my abode.

If intelligent design is true, then Jim Henson was an angel birthed upon the earth; he designed the gecko before that. The gecko looks like a muppet; it is so muppet like it is surprising it does not talk.

I bet Henson created the Platypus on a bet too.

I've seen anoles scurrying around outside my place. In fact, I have seen the most brilliant green borne by an anole crawling up the outside of my building with a tail that transitioned from green to brown to black like he was a lit candle blown out after a few seconds. However, the anoles are like willow o' the wisp and scurry the closer you come towards them.

At work vultures and birds of prey perch and saunter about the buildings edge. These creatures can take a perception that birds are fragile creatures and twist them into beasts to fear. They sport a mass to be reckoned with.

Texas.

I have come home.

Brilliant!

Many people hate advertisements. The thing is advertising reduces and sometimes removes the cost for a consumer to consume some form of media. You do not have to pay to listen to FM or AM radio because there are ads. Satellite radio you have to pay for since much of it is commercial free.

Online content and services need to make money in order to operate. Just having a website up and running costs money. I encountered the following and thought it was brilliant. A very capitalistic solution to security.

This dialog is a form of a captcha: an interactive applet that requires human interaction to prove a "bot" is not using a site en masse. Hence, captchas are a security mechanism to ensure only people are using a site and spam bots are not taking over.

By incorporating the ad into the captcha and typing in part of the ad, you get product retention. I imagine this form of advertisement must cost a little bit more, but what a brilliant idea. Advertisement retention and security all in one!

I have never been a fan of "Wheel of Fortune" so I never really paid attention to Pat Sajack. However, I decide to watch this interview. Still probably won't watch the show, but I like Pat. Hope you do too.

11 Minutes for 8 Years

When a person joins the military they enter into an eight year contract. They are promising that over the next 8 years they can be called upon to fight for their country. The contract is a mix of active and reserve duty time.

A military service member (MSM) gives up many freedoms to protect yours. They are told what to wear. They are told when to eat. They are made to exercise. If they are late for work or fail in what they are told to do there is no threat of being fired; there is a threat of Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) action.

One of the biggest freedoms lost is the freedom of speech. A MSM can not voice their political opinion while in uniform or give their opinion and use their military standing in conjunction with it; as a MSM they are deemed to be an authority figure and can not render political opinion while viewed in that role.

They are fighting for our freedom. Regardless of whether or not you agree with or even understand the current wars and conflicts they are a part of, they are doing it for you.

Take eleven minutes to hear our men and women of the military read "The Declaration of Independence" and remember what a bold step was taken two hundred thirty six years ago to secure your freedom today and these men and women continue to protect.

Commodities Are Not Rights

Bill Whittle is an awesome commentarian/pundit. The latest Firewall is one of the clearest explanations of why health care can not and should not be a right. To distill his commentary down to a sentence : a right does not cost money to exercise, it is an expression of the human experience, but can be oppressed diminishing the human experience. Once you understand this, you realize Obama care infringes on the rights of health care providers.

Is it okay to infringe on the rights of the few so that they service the many?
If you enjoy Whittle's commentaries as much as I do, check out his new show the Stratosphere Lounge!

Common Sense T.V.

If you like "Drinking with Bob," you'll probably like E.T. Williams and his "Common Sense TV."

Williams is just as angry without the shouting, as loud. He is also very prolific in his video blogging. Stroll through his library and you will hit on him talking about something you've been thinking but no one else is talking about. I posted his latest video about Obama and treason. If I were to post a video I really liked, it would be several.

So I'm keeping it simple. The latest video.

As Williams says in his videos, go visit his site : whateverhappentocommonsense.com

And buy his book!
